about

Jennifer DeJesus Sabella, born in 1964 in New York City, grew up immersed in the arts. As the daughter of Broadway actress Bambi Linn, she was surrounded from an early age by a vibrant community of performers and creatives who shaped her sensitivity to movement, emotion, and visual expression. She now lives and works in Litchfield, Connecticut.
A self-taught artist, Jennifer has developed her distinctive visual language through years of experimentation with materials, form, and structure. While her early work focused on technical pen-and-ink renderings, her practice evolved into a deeply intuitive exploration of abstraction. Her paintings center on color, texture, and the emotional narratives that emerge through layered, process-driven techniques.
Among Jennifer’s signature bodies of work are her vibrant “drips” or color streams — gravity-driven paintings that merge controlled repetition with fluid spontaneity. These meditative vertical fields of line and pigment reveal movement, rhythm, and depth. Her dynamic approach extends into abstract oil scapes, wood mosaics, and suspended sculptural paintings, each series inviting viewers into worlds defined by light, color, and tactile richness.
Jennifer’s first major exhibition took place in 2010 at the Bendheim Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut, where she exhibited alongside Helen Frankenthaler, Robert Motherwell, and Sol LeWitt. Her debut solo exhibition in 2013 at Five Points Gallery in Torrington, Connecticut, received enthusiastic critical response and paved the way for more than a dozen solo shows throughout New England and internationally — including a solo exhibition in Rome, Italy.
She is the Artist in Residence at Winvian Farm and a summer Artist in Residence at Borgo Santo Pietro in Italy. Her work is held in private and public collections across the United States and abroad.
